Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Customers rave about the large portions of chips that accompany the delicious selection of pies and sausages. The fish, particularly the cod and haddock, receives high marks for its perfect batter and freshness. The chips are crispy outside and fluffy inside, a highlight for many visitors—they seem almost like a lost art in other establishments! There’s a special note about the ‘scraps,’ those delightful little bits of crispy batter that add a nostalgic touch. People love the friendly service from the owners who make every visit feel personal. Finally, the reasonable prices seal the deal for many loyal fans who appreciate such good value.

Most Disliked

Some diners find the lack of seating a drawback, as the bustling atmosphere can lead to limited space. Others point out that parking can be challenging, particularly in narrow streets, which could deter some guests from visiting. While the restaurant’s casual vibe is appealing, it might not cater to those looking for an immersive dining experience. A few patrons express frustration with the cash-only payment policy, which feels outdated amid many venues accepting cards. Finally, during peak hours, the wait can stretch longer than expected—a testament to its popularity but sometimes a test of patience.

By far, the best chippy in the area. This was my regular when I lived in South Lynn. The owners are lovely, very welcoming, and friendly. The food is always freshly cooked, some to order, and good quality. It's always clean and very busy. You can order in advance. Parking can be tricky in the narrow side streets, so if you can walk or get dropped and picked up, it's easier. Don't let that deter you from visiting, though. Just be prepared. It's worth it. Mum and I always get a large portion of chips to share. We hate waste, with pie and scampi on this occasion. The fish is always fabulous, though, especially the Haddock. Don't forget the scraps, a naughty must have!!!

Almost reluctant to add my name to all the great reviews, to make it too busy next time I go! 😉May the gods strike me down for such selfish contemplation, but I must say this is a very good chippy. Tucked away down a red brick terraced street on a corner plot. The chips are a revelation, a reminder of what we’ve lost pretty much everywhere else. This is a great local independent chip shop. I wish I lived closer.

Our whole order was freshly cooked, large cod (and it was), plaice, sausage, with chips, gravy and curry sauce. A good crispy batter on all and everything cooked in beef dripping, the best way, we will be back.

Best chip shop in Lynn for fish in my opinion. I drive from three villages across to get fish from here (and I have a chip shop at the end of my road). Prices have gone up in line with every other thing at the minute, but still worth it!
